Purpose Over Pain™ Campaign
In Memory of Stavon E. Williams
Purpose Over Pain is a digital movement used to raise funds for The Stavon E. Williams Memorial Scholarship, an endowed scholarship that was launched by Pastor Misha in partnership with Western Kentucky University. This campaign honors the life and legacy of her son, Stavon E. Williams, by providing financial support each year to college students and small business owners pursuing their dreams.
“Laughter is the best medicine” was more than a saying for Stavon E. Williams. It was the way he lived. Born on January 25, 1990, in South Bend, Indiana, to Pastor Misha Maynard and Scott Williams Sr., Stavon grew into a devoted father, leader, entrepreneur, and servant of God whose presence left a lasting imprint on every community he touched. Raised in Nashville and later rooted in Bowling Green, Stavon attended Western Kentucky University from 2008 to 2012, earning a bachelor’s degree in Education.
During his time on the Hill, he served as a Resident Advisor, facilitated the Dynamic Leadership Institute, and was initiated into the Gamma Theta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in April 2011. He carried a deep love for entrepreneurship, community, faith, and family, and he wore all of it with undeniable style and joy.
After his passing on August 19, 2021, at the age of 31, Pastor Misha launched the Purpose Over Pain campaign to transform pain into purpose. What began as a tribute has become an annual movement. Each year, the Purpose Over Pain Campaign raises funds to award financial support to college students and small business owners, helping them pursue their education and entrepreneurial dreams. Through his three daughters, Skye, Serenity, and Saige, and through every recipient empowered by this fund, Stavon’s legacy of leadership, generosity, and joy lives on.
